KAYAKING!
Oh, I'm envious. If things had worked out better this spring, I would have gotten to go kayaking next month.

Sorry about that! I guess I'm lucky to be so close to a river and I had spare cash to buy an inflateable boat. No kayaking for me today though, the river is in flood stage.

Great news about the boating going well! I know exactly the feeling you describe, and that's exactly how paddling should feel ( ... )

I will try those technique too.

Is the seat back support important? The cheap inflateable seat included with my boat has absolutely no support. It just looks like it has a back. I've resisted ordering the better seat with back support because I figure it makes for even better exercise, me having to hold my torso up without anything to lean on. Let me know what you think about that. Also, my Dad has suggested that the curve concave shape of my paddle blades was contributing to my tracking problems. Is that so? Are these type of paddle blades meant for white-water kayaking and they are contributing to the tracking tendency (which is greatly reduced now). Should I get flat paddle blades?

I would be giving another report by now but 1) it was raining Tuesday 2) it was very hot Wednesday and I was too tired and 3) today the river is off limits due to flooding! Hopefully I'll get back out there tomorrow or Saturday!

It is great that you have found a new way to get out and get some exercise and air. My sister and parents are avid kayakers, my folks are 71 and get out quite a bit and love it.
Are you tutoring in the disabilities dept?

Right now I am just familiarizing myself with the software so that this fall I can train new students in its use. Much of this software is useful for nondisable students too. If you haven't heard of Inspiration, you might want to ask your children to download a trial version the next time they have to start a paper or project. It's wonderful for brainstorming and organizing and outline papers and projects. Its very visually appealing and easy to learn and use too. Or at least I found it so.

As much as I hate to admit it, I like Calculus. I think its the visual aspect that's so appealing to me. Not to mention all the things you can do with it. It almost seems like magic the way you can figure out the perfect dimensions or inputs for optimizing some output. I like math in general, even though being good in it has a way of alienating me from most other people.
