TF fandom reverse bang, Y/N?

Feb 16, 2014 09:44

A while back the idea of doing a TF reverse bang was floated around. I remember a decent amount of support for it, and only one person on Tumblr who thought the idea was terrible.

It's been a while and no-one's set one up that I know of (please correct me if I'm wrong!), so I was wondering, would anyone be interested?

I figure it might work like this:
* Artists sign up and create an image. I envisage this as a low-stress fest with a decent amount of time to complete things, so perhaps a 12 week deadline for art, the same as I'm giving authors. Feedback from artists on this would be awesome.
* Minimum contribution from artists is one representational (not abstract) picture with background, made using traditional or digital media, either monochrome or colour, any rating. Stylisation is allowed, as are AU elements (humanised, robo babies, everyone's a squid, that kind of thing), but no crossovers with other fandoms. Crossovers between TF continuities will be allowed. Sequential art will be allowed up to three panels, no speech/thought bubbles or labels.
* Artists will include a header so there's no ambiguity over characters and continuity (because there are so many robots, and some of them look awfully similar), also to include content advice.
* Artists can contribute multiple separate images, provided they're completed within the deadline.
* Author sign-ups start at the beginning of the fest and remain open until all pics are matched.
* When the art is in, the artists post their pics, and authors choose an image as inspiration for a fic.
* Matching is on a first-come-first-served basis, one author per pic until all pics are matched. After all pics have one author working on them, more authors can sign up to write for pics that have already been matched. This is to make sure no artist goes without an author.
* Authors have 12 weeks to write and edit. Authors can choose their minimum wordcount, 3k or 10k, no maximum no matter what you signed up with. There is no obligation to talk plot with artist of the chosen piece, but the option for that is open.
* If an author drops out, the pic will become available for matching again.
* Not sure whether to make having a beta mandatory or not. Opinions?
* Towards the end, we agree posting schedule.
* At the end, fic and art are posted together according to the schedule. Everyone celebrates. YAY!

So what do you think?

ETA: Anon commenting is enabled, for anyone who doesn't have an LJ account. The fest would be open to anyone, regardless whether or not you have an LJ account.

ladydragon76 has very kindly offered her skills and will be making the community look awesome, and we have at least one artist making a banner :D (saving everyone from the horror that happens when I'm left to make community banners :P)

We'll make a post ASAP with banners and code for promoting the community.

If you spot anything that needs clarifying or that I've mis-typed, please poke me <3
