because appearently i cant call them out of the plue and expect them to send it after several years....
or at least that seemed his only valid explaination.

And he said they could provide the info to the power company. when I said that they should he then would say to me i need to proove i paid those outstanding bills (i had no outstanding bills!)

thats just ridiculous ._. - gotta love bureaucracy. Id try again and make clear that those bills couldnt have been directed at you. send the tenancy agency a copy of the letter from the credit collection guys, so they can see youre being charged for a period in time that you didnt live there. they can check against their own records and hopefully will send out the tenancy agreement in return, since you proved that whatever bills there are, couldnt have been caused by you

*hugs tight* I really really hope it can be worked out hun

unfortunately unless you can provide the document of when you left, and the last payment on the rent for that place, and the new place new start of rent. They have one over you.

You can try and force there hand to send you the agreement, but that could cause you no end of headaches and years to finally get it.

I understand what you are going through. I had a similar problem, but since the dept was over 11 years ago, they had to write it off. I am not telling you to take the hit on your credit for 7 years, but I don't have anything close to help you. I wish I did.

Hey another thought comes to me. If you can get the new residence after you left to allow you a copy of there lease, then that will hold some clout.

Just a suggestion.

Hope it works out.

They are the only ones with the copy of the contract. I did not have it.. as my flatmate of the time was still living there a couple months after me.

And easylet WERE told that we were moved out at the time. so they cant even claim that we 'did a runner'. I will persue this as much as needed. Reguardless of headaches. They are in the wrong and Im not willing (or able) to pay something thatswasnt mine to begin with.

I've got friends currently helping me out and on the case of each of the companies involved ^_^

Unfortunately, I have no advice on this one. However, Someone should have a record of when you were where. Don't these places keep records at all?

Under UK law, businesses are supposed to keep financial records for 6 years.

have no idea how I am going to pay this shit.

why would you pay something you don't owe? the providing tenancy agreement thing is their rule/opinion, not the law. if they do take you to court, tell the court you weren't living there, under oath. going to court might be scary, but it isn't bad unless the judgement at the end is against you, which it shouldn't be.

do you not have any other corporate/council/etc letters/bills to show where you lived when? banks usually let you re-order old statements (for a fee), for one thing.

DO NOT PAY SOMETHING YOU DO NOT OWE, NO MATTER HOW SCARY "THEY" MAKE IT SEEM.

also, tell the debt collection people and/or eon that the letting agent is *refusing* to provide a copy of the lease.

Desperate words from a desperate person,... desperately wanting this resolved :P

I'll definitely have bank statements saying I was living in london at the time. I guess it would be possible for Paul to write a letter saying I was living with him etc, since tecnically he was my landlord? (ie there was no lease for me living there persay, but he owns the flat i was living in. Not sure how valid that sort of thing would be though.
