Not being in on the Harry Potter mania is a little strange - it's like everyone around me is part of a big celebration, but I'm not playing. I can participate, sort of, e.g., ordering the books so my niece and nephew got it first thing today, but mostly, it's not my party. Maybe it's like being Jewish at Christmas time? After weeks of buildup, ( Read more... )

ARGH! Honestly, "demon alcohol" has tagged my ass. But crappity crap crap! I meant to write something else, but trying to forget about CowLip seems like the same thimg.

Seriously. I'll write a much better post when I'm sober. I'd tell you more, but I think we're all at the point of the being gossips. Honestly, "demon alcohol" has tagged my ass. But crappity crap crap! I meant to write something else, but trying to forget about CowLip seems like the same thing.

Either way, my drunk and half-Welsh ass is at a loss tonight ;)

I'll pass mjor judgment on Dsvid my fave) and Keith.

Grr. I hope my previous half-assed post makes sense. I hit the wrong button & posted before editing :)

I feel like even more of a dork now because I actually don't know what you are trying to say. It's like a super-secret combination of QAF/6FU/Oz/SVU/TWoP speak that I think I should get but pathetically don't.

Can someone explain it to me? [/Casey]

Ha! You know what's funny, I just reread my first piece of crap & thought, "Man, I need to switch back to Guinness." I just remembered that I had written a non-illiterate comment, lost it, and was trying to write you a new one while chatting with lostingeekdom or sravenk. I must've copy/pasted the two things & made two fucked-up comments/posts instead of one. Seriously, I've learned my lesson: alcohol kills your brain.

4. I edit my old TWoP posts if I find a typo or grammatical error in them, even though no one will probably ever see the edited post.

Heh, when I read posts I edit them in my head. And it's not just typos; I think about how I'd rewrite long posts so they're pleasing to the eye.

* runs off to see if UV really edits her old posts *

The Harry Potter thing is lost on me, too. Mind you, I'm not criticizing the books; I think it's very cool that a single mother on the dole created something that the entire world wants to read, and is now set for life. But, the series is just another fad (except this seems to be more enduring than a fad) that passed me by like so many other pop culture phenomenon. I put off going to the bookstore, yesterday, because I knew the place would be packed to the gills Potter peeps ( ... )

Hey you! You're a big city dork now. Like you, I'm thrilled that kids are reading actual books, so I don't begrudge the HP fandom anything it does. It just feels weird sometimes not knowing anything about it, really.

But I've missed out on all the cultural multi-chapter epics: LoTR, Star Wars, HP. But not the Matrix. Maybe if Keanu were in Harry Potter...

Oh, my, that really didn't sound right!

Good for you for not lining Ironbone's pockets with more cash. Arrested Development is another one of those phenomena that has thus far escaped me. But I love it that they mentioned TWoP. And included real extras.

I hear you. I've always had a fertile imagination, just no ambition/commitment to hash out the ideas on paper. This is how film students end up becoming legal assistants and whatnot.Exactly. See, we should just be in an office somewhere in L.A., approving or nixing story ideas, and final drafts. We could do it for fanfic, too! Think if all the drek we could stop before it gets to the Pit. If we didn't stab our eyes ( ... )

See now, I might have to ask H what makes me a dork because most things I do I find completely normal ;)

Aww, true love: "No, honey, you're not a dork. That (insert extreme dork-like behavior here) is perfectly normal, and I wouldn't want you to change!" :)

I don't get the Harry Potter thing, either. Read the first two in pb, just to see what the fuss was about, and remain fairly clueless. The story *behind* the books is my favorite part, since that's my own fantasy to finally, after years of trying, hit the best seller lists. As with my viewing habits, I'd just rather spend my reading time with adults, not kids.

Yeah, the story behind the story is very cool. I'd love to be able to say "I knew Rebecca when..." someday :) (I love that icon, btw. CM looks dreamy there.)

Aww, thanks, although hopefully there would be nothing past tense about it. *g*

Hee - that really could be Reason Number One in your dork meme.

No, I'm kidding! Come back. You know I actually like your story, right? (I think I even replied once, a long time ago, though it was in typical knee-jerking, Elliot-defense style.)

I just couldn't stand the actor in the actual episode. Which is too bad, because I've seen him in other things where he was enjoyable.

Speaking of the story, have you abandoned it? Or are you just having too much fun in Orgo? (That's what it was called back in the day. Don't know what you kids are calling it these days...)

You're reading Persistence? Squeee! That means I'm up to, like, 3 people who care! Score! And yes I've been so thoroughly consumed by the hellbeast orgo (we kids still call it that...) that I've been forced to pretend I have nothing else in my life. It's been almost a month since I've gotten a new pair of shoes.::involuntary shiver:: I'll be done with the class in about two weeks, so I'm hoping to update shortly thereafter.
