It's SVU on USA!

Sep 05, 2005 07:34

Yes, it's a Monday holiday and i'm up earlier than on a working Monday. Well, technically, I still haven't gone to sleep, so that's celebratory, I guess. I'm watching the USA SVU marathon, which is chock-full of episodes from the Glory Days. Season Three goodness - lean, not-always-mean Stabler, unwinged Benson and be-spectacled Cabot ( Read more... )

I love this gray suit Alex is wearing. Yes, I know you can't see it necessarily, but still.

Oh, I see it alright. The image of Alex in the gray suit and black blouse in "Inheritance" is permanently burned in my memory. There's something about that combination that makes Alex impossibly sexy...I mean, more so. And I love the summation, too, including the "eyeglass removal". Then again, we all know how easy I am when it comes to Cabot. Dammit, I wish I had cable!

You do see it! You have magical powers.

No cable? And here I thought you had moved TO civilization.

Then again, we all know how easy I am when it comes to Cabot.
Why qualify it, Tall Lady? I know how easy you are, period! ;)

I haven't had time to wait for the "we'll be by to install your digital cable between now and 2008" cable guy.

Oh, and I forgot to say how happy it made me to see you posting on TWoP again today! Yay.

Oh, and though it will never be counted in his favor, I will note that Stabler is exceedingly sensitive to the gay cop at the beginning and never shows any repulsion or disgust for either the gay porn being discussed or the ex-teen-stud doing it.

No, I will give you that. It's just that when I went on my Elliot rant a while ago, I don't think I had seen the beginning of that episode.

I love Olivia's S2 hair. I know there are very few of us, but it's hot.

Oh, but you're a reasonable person :) The detractors I'm talking about have seen this episode, as well as the many others in which Elliot is not homophobic. But they ignore them.

I live in fear that Bore and Bone will also forget it and turn Stabler into an actual homophobe this season.

Alas, I am not a fan of S2 Benson hair. But S3 is getting there.

You don't know me very well if you think I'm reasonable. ;-D

Well, reasonable within reason, of course ;)

Are you going to be commenting non-stop on the marathon? Sounds like a fun thing to do. BTW .. I'lll be at the lockers if you'd like to continue a commenting marathon.
I started watching about half an hour back, so missed the dress in counterfiet. I forgot this was a Stabler-less episode. But love Olivia's hair. What else do we have today worth watching?

Hey! I just got back in time to see Ridicule - one of my least favorite episodes ever. I tried not to comment on it, but as usual, I can't help myself!

I'll sign on in a bit, but unfortunately, I'm about to lose my monopoly on the TV. Big sis is coming home, and I doubt she'll be up for an afternoon of SVU.

Other worthwhile episodes coming up: Rooftop, Monogomy and Protection. There's also Redemption, which I enjoy but many don't. (It's the Stabler/Wyatt Earp epi.)

Wyatt Earp? Why don't I remember this ep? The lineup sounds like a roster of T!I!P! episodes.

Is it wrong to love the moment when Stabler "frisks" Mark-Paul SBTB and slams him against the wall?

Sorry, what?

Hee. You have seen that episode, haven't you? It's a pretty good one, if you haven't.

Surely, you jest! Of course I've seen it!

I make it a personal goal of mine to make sure I watch anything that has childhood/pre-teen obsessions of mine getting completely fucked over in "I'm A Grown-up Now!" guest roles.

This ranks right up there with those writers turning Fred Savage into Teh Evol Rapist, which is just about the only ep where I've enjoyed seeing Alex have her ass handed to her in the courtroom.

Ah Kevin, Kevin..you're Ma taught you better than to slug a cop. What would Winnie Cooper say if she saw you now?

BTW .... Rob is feeling a wee bit pissed at having his nose tweaked on the hellboards.

Argh! Go away for the weekend and I miss all the good stuff..again.

Elliot's assholic behavior is similar to the way he acted in Fallacy, another episode in which he was made to look overly reactionary so Olivia could be the crusading champion of the underdog.

I absolutely HATE Ridicule because it makes absolutely no sense that Elliot would act this way. None. Period. It's a part of the writing that's always been there - having one character play the foil, devil's advocate, but to take it to the extent that they did with Stabler. Am I really supposed to believe that Stabler, who's been with Special Victim's for how many years, would *still* be of the belief that an adult male couldn't be raped?

I will note that Stabler is exceedingly sensitive to the gay cop at the beginning and never shows any repulsion or disgust for either the gay porn being discussed or the ex-teen-stud doing it.Heh, I've been thinking about taking all these "Stabler doesn't get wigged around gay people" moments and writing a Stabler isn't a Homophobe defense, ( ... )

I was wondering where you'd gone off to. I hoped maybe you'd spent the weekend, trapped with only your computer but no modem, forced to write :)

Oh, I think he knew an adult male could be penetrated. And I didn't even mind his skepticism about the guy, since he was apparently able to have sex with three different women. (Though the writers totally wimped out and didn't really explain the details.) I don't buy that Stabler's so unevolved that his "arousal=consent" and "But, but, he's a MAN!" would be the extent of his argument.

I've been thinking about taking all these "Stabler doesn't get wigged around gay people" moments and writing a Stabler isn't a Homophobe defense, but I can't find all my tapes and I'm still missing a few episodes.Man, I would love that, just so I wouldn't be the only one cataloguing it. Butt he naysayers will always point to Fallacy and ( ... )
