I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Don't worry about the karma thing. I am living proof it comes. I know that feeling you are talking about too. Maybe because other things in your life are going well you are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I sincerely hope that nothing bad happens. Again I am sorry to hear about your friend. It must really hurt to loose someone over such stupidity.

Loss always sucks. Irrational losses suck... you don't want me to say what they suck here, but trust me, it's nasty.
