Goodbye 2009
A year full of big changes and self-discovery. I ran my first 10K, DY broke up with me, and grad school is simultaneously getting better and worse. I enjoy it more, but there's a lot of stress and pressure. My qual is due soon but I haven't finished it yet. here's a popular press article on the paper our lab just published. basically, we've found that varenicline, an FDA approved drug used to help reduce cravings in smoking addicts, also reduced ethanol consumption in rats who were trained to drink pretty heavily. not too surprising since dependence on both nicotine and alcohol involve the same ( Read more... )
