It seems an update is in order. The opera is over as of last weekend, which is definitely a relief. The production went well enough, I felt fine about my performance, and I received a number of compliments on my portrayal of the character. My mind often dreams up musical and conceptual crossovers, typically when and where I least expect them. I'm currently in an opera production of Turandot. During my off time in rehearsal tonight I found myself pondering how interesting it would be if Turandot were set in the world of the anime Twelve Kingdoms. Tonight I got an email from the Messiah Choral Society in Grand Junction, expressing interest in hiring me as the bass soloist for their annual performance of Handel's Messiah this Easter! I've been wondering about something. On the back of many printed goods that one might find for sale (books, calendars, etc.), there are prices for the U.S., Canada, and often the U.K as well. The U.S. price is always the lowest numerically, Canada's always higher. I always figured that this was due to the difference in value of those respective ( Read more... ) -
