Great review. I found myself nodding along as I read, however at the end concluded with a different feeling regarding Merlin's part. I can't bring myself to hate Merlin yet; first and foremost, Colin's performance saved it for me, delivering some irritating lines with hidden depth, convincing enough about how there's more to it. Oh! How I agree with everything in your review and you, tanoshi_ame. I was so enraged at Merlin's ineptitude, I completely ignored his responsibilities to Aithusa. You are absolutely right in saying Merlin has focused down to one thing only: Arthur. To his own destruction. He really is like Gwen used to be. Nothing if not attached to Arthur. That is such a shame

I think you've absolutely put your finger on it. It's turned into a Romeo and Juliet style tragedy, where everything stupid that's happened could have been avoided if people just told the truth to each other. But that's kind of the whole point of tragedy, which is where I personally think the show is gearing up to a traditionally tragic ending.
