I'm trying to make a list of (atleast)twenty-five books to read this summer. Any suggestions (unless they're Jane Eyre, The Lovley Bones, or Lord of The Flies) would be lovely.

[If you're still reading this &it would help, in the passed year I've read &fallen in love with: The Perks of Being A Wallflower, A Walk To Remember, You Remind Me of You, ( Read more... )

um. how about She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, or Dreamland by Sarah Dessen?

i really like the diary of a teenage girl series. so far there's 4 books, but i've only read 3 of them. they're a girls diary of her later high school and college experiences/etc. but they're christian-ish, so i don't know if it'd really appeal to you or not. anyway, the titles are:

1. becoming me
2. it's my life
3. who i am
4. on my own

oh, and the author is melody carlson.

oh, &I am Christian, but I wouldn't refuse to read something because of religion.
thanks Mich <3

i totally just finished reading the second book, "it's my life". although i'm not religious, it definitely wasn't bad.

CATCHER IN THE RYE IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!! <33333

haha, I'm sorry. It's my favoritest book ever and I've read it 27 times. That's correct...27 times.

Good choices, doll. Any books you can suggest for me? I'm a pretty big reader myself, so I've read a lot.

Read Martyn Pig by Kevin Brooks. I think you'll like it. L(

I'd suggest anything by Francesca Lia Block (Violet & Claire, I Was A Teenage Fairy)or Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar or one of her manymany books of poetry). Also, anything I listed up there; The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky or Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty (which has a sequal called Second Helpings; I'm reading it now).

When I was in middle school my favourite book was Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. I re-read it recently and the diction, syntax, etc. is so simple, but the story is just lovely. You could probly read it in two sittings, but I know you'd like it. :)

Thanks for the suggestion.

all of those books are totally ones i would have recommended. but can i asked why you asked us not to recommend "lord of the flies"? (just curious, mostly because i just finished reading it).

uhm, as for more books to read, have you ever read girl, interrupted? uhm, also, adam and eve and pinch me by julia johnston is a good book. and anything by roald dahl. <33 (best author ever!). oh, &the watcher by james howe is a great book.

&i think thats it. if i think of any more, ill be sure to tell you. <33

we just read lord of the flies in my english eleventh honors class and every second of it was torture. on top of a plot i despised, i thought it was poorly written, but i guess i'm biased because i disagree with basically every statement golding tried to make throughout the novel.

i have both the book and video form of girl, interrupted. ;) oh! i read lots of roald dahl, too, way back when. matilda was my childhood heroine.

i'll keep james howe in mind. thanks, doll.

hehe, I was going to suggest Second Helpings, it's the most recent book I've read. I just finished it last night. hehe. I'll check my bookshelf and get back to you. btw, you'll like Feeling Sorry for Celia, I read that last summer. I'm looking for summer books too, I'll have to check out the ones on your list.

I think when I'm done, I'm going to read Celia. It somehow sounds the most promising. :)
