Leo is 2 1/2. Many Pediatricians recommend nursing your child until they are at least one. It shown to be very healthy for them physically, emotionally, and intellectully. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/bfextended/ebf-benefits.html
Wow! I read somewhere very recently also that when a woman is pregnant & nursing, the flavor of her milk changes and that can cause the nursing child to wean themselves if they don't care for the new taste. Do you think he'll pick it back up after the baby arrives and he sees him/her nursing? My short term goal is 6 mos & my long term goal is a year...unless Tyler becomes a biter when his teeth start to come in. Then I'll just pump & bottlefeed instead. Certainly much cheaper more healthy than formula.:)
I've also read that, but I don't think that is the case. I used to be able to manually express my milk, but over the past two weeks I have only been able to get a drop or two. Oh well, it will be coming back soon enough. I am not sure if Leo will want to nurse again. We have already been talking a lot about babies, and he has talked about how the baby will need the boob. hahaha. I guess we'll see how he reacts when the baby comes.
When Leo started to bite, I would firmly tell him NO BITING and that nipped that in the butt after a couple of days. I seriously almost gave up though.
Thank you! :) Breastfeeding has been such a great experience for Leo and for myself. It was kind of difficult at first, being from a family that doesn't breastfeed. I had to put up with a lot of criticism in the beginning and after Leo turned one, but I pulled through.
