It was pretty funny. We all pulled off and on the first stroke there was no sound whatsoever, then by the second stroke it was snowing in the ringing chamber.
This winter is bizarre. Sure, it's very cold, has been for a while, but we still haven't gotten any snow here in my area! So even while this may go down as one of the harshest European winters in quite a while, it doesn't feel as spectacular as the last two years. (I guess I can count myself lucky - poor sods in Central/Eastern/Southeastern Europe.)
Not so far. And neither has Dad, even though I spent a fair amount of the walk throwing snow at his back.
You see, it's been really weird here. Europe's had all this ridiculous weather happening and it's been on the news how everyone is suffering. All the while we've been sitting here waiting for it to drop below zero. I saw bees out in December! Honey bees! It's the softest winter that ever softed.
This is obviously definitive proof that we're on a different continent.
Don't think you can use the weather to escape affiliation with Europe. <-- ... is what I would have liked to put in the subject line, but ALAS. :(
It's been like this in Western Germany as well, December was ridiculously warm. The last wild geese left for southern France and Spain as late as January- poor birds must be in for a surprise right about now. ;)
Times like these you really appreciate the Gulf Stream, even if it rains a lot.
