This OS is bizarre. Took me an hour to figure out how to get a recognizable browser up. Eva has her laptop but mine is being used for program analysis. Along with about five other computers. This is heavy coding work... reminds me of working on the kids.

...It's complicated. A friend of ours has been without a body for a long time; his consciousness is being stored in a computer network. I'm a robotics expert, and told him I'd go through with building him a body.

Nice car, by the way.

Some people have objections to androids (or cyborgs - not sure which this counts as, there's no biological matter in here, not even the brain). I see it as giving back a kind of life that was taken away too soon. And more; a robotic body far surpasses a flesh-and-blood one, in every area. Not that I'd... do it to myself, or anything. But if I needed a replacement, I'd turn to robotics first. They wouldn't let me die without trying.

I like the old models. That's just me.

It's going well then? I hope those blueprints make sense.

I hope Orlando likes this.

[Like most things in Patalliro, I would guess there are some things that aren't really necessary, so if you want to, feel free to wonder why some things are on the blueprints.]

...For the most part, yeah. We managed to eliminate a few dozen extra steps, including "take a nap", "eat some cake", "take another nap", and "call Rashanu to complain". Who the hell wrote these?

I hope he doesn't blow out any circuits when we transfer him over.

...Great progress, I see. Definitely sounds like Patalliro.
It'd be kind of hard to call Rashanu from there. Then again, I wouldn't put it passed them to find a way to call other worlds.

Despite all that stupidity, the robots here work really well, so I think he'd be ok.

What are you using?

One of the computers in the lab. I know, they're not set up for end user web browsing like that. I'm keeping my laptop free for this kind of stuff from now on. Not like it can compare to the computing power of the other CPUs here.

I can set one up to browse pretty easily.

Do it. ...Please. It's pissing me off that I can't fix it myself.

You could've borrowed my laptop, you know. I wouldn't have minded.

I'm sorry about screaming when I woke up and saw that I'd... you know. Didn't mean to startle you and the arms like that, really!

And... at least you're able to put together coherent sentences about this whole thing. Doesn't count as babbling if it's understandable!

Yeah. Just that, you know, I figured you wouldn't want anyone else using it. I get protective of my computer, don't like anyone else using it, so I respected yours.

They were more startled than I was, weirdly enough not that I wasn't. They have no frame of reference, they can't comprehend something like that. I couldn't exactly explain it to them either...

Orlando formatted the OS to allow browsing now. Just meant that I was going on for way too long about the project.

Hee~ Were the arms jealous of Eva before or after she became a boy?

And yeah, I know what you mean by being more comfortable around guys. I told Eva its because we don't feel like we have to change up our routines. But ... Eva's not like other girls, so ya know~

Before, I think. But they're not used to people, uh, at all. I think anyone who makes me take my attention away from them is immediately an object of jealousy.

You'd be right. Most of my lab techs were men - not by choice, it's just all we had - and you get into that certain mindset when it's all guys working. Was a lot more quiet that way...

Hee hee~ They're like jealous little puppies. You should let them know that Eva's already got a girlfriend. Maybe then they wouldn't get so jealous?

Neh ... Eva's pretty tom-boyish though, even when he was still a girl. She was just one of the guys, really, and the only girl in our little team.

Might be that they're more used to men. Not that - I mean, I'm not after Eva or anything, don't get the wrong idea. But I think they picked up on how often I got distracted by her. Just in general. They don't like me getting distracted.

Oh, tell me about it. Should've expected as much from a mechanic, but it was still pleasantly surprising. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against working alongside women. I just expect them to get down to business, get their hands dirty, and work as hard as anyone else. If they don't, I don't keep them in my lab. Simple as that.
