in person hippos are a bit gross. i had the great good fortune to once be given a private tour of the Pachyderm House at the Philadelphia Zoo, and the pachydermyologist said "hippos are basically digestive tracks on legs. with teeth."
First of all, people have various issues with gmail. I personally long ago gave up any illusion of privacy, so I don't particularly care, but you might.
I love gmail; it's a very different interface from, say, yahoo mail or even traditional elm-pine-y sort of mail systems. it threads messages into "conversations," as a message board would. it's just (IMO) insanely well-designed, and it's a real pleasure for me to see someone actually acting on user interface design theories. small thing that I love: messages are not only dated, but labelled by how long ago you got them. Duh. Do people mostly think "I got that message on the 12th?" no, they got something last week, or yesterday. love that

By the way, what is gmail? Aside from being a google thing, what makes it useful?
