I think it might be time to admit that I might be a little homesick. I wish I could be home Thanksgiving and I'm mad that I had to miss my cousins wedding and such. I don't like the h-word cause most of the time I'm fine here. I miss you guys and wish I could hang out with you (and really wish I could have been at the Halloween party) but it's not ( Read more... )

I think it's totally natural to feel homesick and a little bit of that self-doubt. You went and jumped into a TON of shit you have little personal experience - far away in a foreign land, teaching children... I'm very proud of you and think you're very brave to do something like this. Maybe it won't help your future career, but you never know how things will work out! You could be on an interview for your dream job and the interviewer is *from* South Korea or did a similar teaching aboard thing, or like me, never did anything so bold and is impressed with your courage. To spin off of Chris' comment, this whole experience will definitely help you for your future because it can only help you to grow as a person and become more independent, plus know when you need to ask for help. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is a great think in a job interview, plus just the fact that you went abroad to teach for a year shows a future employer that you have confidence in yourself (even if that goes back and forth it must be growing, plus to take this on in general shows a lot of confidence in yourself to be able to handle this all). You just have to pull out the specific qualities that this experience has changed in you, so don't worry about the future and how this affects it! It'll all end up fine in the end.
