Appearance: Kakashi is constantly seen in his jounin uniform, consisting of precisely eight articles of clothing, seven of which are midnight blue: one facemask (covering the entire lower portion of his face under his eyes) connected to a sleeveless tanktop; one long-sleeve shirt (not too form-fitting with red swirls on the biceps; sleeves slightly rolled up); one pair of pants (relatively form-fitting); one armored forehead protector; one pair of fingerless armored gloves (leather); one pair of ninja sandals (leather); and one flak vest (military green, not midnight blue).
He always has on him a pack strapped at his waistline that contains an assortment of shuriken, kunai, ninja scrolls, wire, and most importantly, one copy of a book from the Icha Icha series. (Readable, easily digestible porn is a daily must in Kakashi's day. He simply can't do without it, and enjoys walking about reading it.) He also has a smaller medical pack with him at all times that contain a number of first aid items, and is never seen without a white shuriken and kunai holster strapped over his pants around his right thigh.
What Kakashi has under his pants is no one's business but Kakashi's.

Canon Personality: He has a problem with always being late.
Kakashi seems to go about life in an overwhelmingly cheerful, carefree, and lackadaisical way. The only thing that seems to excite him is porn; specifically, porn in the form of little books with bright covers titled Icha Icha (fill in the blank here). His casual disregard towards just about everything, including overseeing the training of his students, is often rather infuriating to those subjected to it.
Constantly evasive and never honest about his life or the going-ons in it, "secretive" would be an understatement when it comes to how Kakashi lives his private life. Having experienced so much loss throughout his life, he holds his distance from others and is a relatively closed book. Those who try to pry his covers open constantly find themselves shoved away. Kakashi isn't interested in letting others read his pages; his story is his alone, and he has no interest in sharing.
Despite his reticence in letting others close to him, Kakashi has an innate ability in understanding others. He is incredibly intuitive, and can often understand the inner workings of someone else's mind better than they can; he reads people carefully and closely, and files them away in the back of his mind for later perusal. Sometimes, he uses this skill against them -- by figuring out their motives and desires, he is able to manipulate them into situations that are usually for their own good. (Though, at times, in execution, said manipulation can sometimes be for his own amusement. Kakashi has quite a dry sense of humor; sometimes it falls on the strange side.)
Yet, despite his many downfalls, loyalty is, by far, the most defining aspect of Kakashi's personality. He is unwaveringly devoted to the village he serves, and to his friends and teammates, even at the cost of his own life. There is little he wouldn't do to protect them -- his signature technique, Raikiri, was created just for that purpose.
A ninja must see underneath the underneath. Those who break the rules and codes of the ninja world are called trash. But those who don't take care of their friends are worse than trash.
And somehow, he always smiles, even when it hurts the most.

Abilities/Strengths: Having been an elite ninja for twenty-four years of his life, Kakashi's fighting abilities are top-notch. His Sharingan allows him to copy any jutsu that doesn't require a bloodline, and he is incredibly skilled at being able to copy and execute an opponent's technique. He is capable of fighting at close, mid, and long range combat, switching between taijutsu, ninjutsu, genjutsu, and doujutsu. Though he has copied over a thousand techniques, Kakashi prefers to use a combination of taijutsu, earth jutsu, and his original Raikiri in combat, when possible.
As a ninja, Kakashi is incredibly skilled at gathering/obtaining information, infiltrating high-security facilities, bypassing security measures, and keeping his presence unnoticed on enemy territory by suppressing his chakra levels completely. Due to his analytical skills and experience on the battlefield, Kakashi is incredibly adept at developing combat strategy on the fly to defeat an enemy or complete a mission.
Kakashi's a genius -- and is very intelligent and insightful, quickly and easily picking up on his surroundings. He's also very analytical, always knowing how to "look underneath the underneath" to uncover what isn't necessarily easily seen -- not just about situations on the battlefield, but also about people and personal relationships.
His incredibly acute sense of smell allows him to discern enemies in his proximity. Used in tandem with his chakra-sensing abilities, Kakashi can quickly determine how many enemies there are, and how close. Quite often, he can also discern emotions, when intense, especially heightened ones such as fear or killing intent.
He also is a pretty smooth talker, but that's another story all together.
Weaknesses: Kakashi's greatest weakness is definitely his history. He is so obsessed with his past, with everything that happened, that he is unable to move on. He's lost so many people close to him that he's incapable of forming close relationships -- always holding everyone at arm's length, terrified that if they get close to him, he'll lose them -- or that it is because of him that they're lost. As a result, even if he ends up caring for someone, he's very bad at showing it, and constantly keeps them at a distance, never letting them in.
Kakashi is also not exactly an optimist. He's a little too rooted in realism and can sometimes be a little more pessimistic. It doesn't help that he has a bad habit of internalizing just about everything negative that ever happens to him, locking up his emotions and never letting any of it out.
He also has a problem with overthinking -- while he is analytical, sometimes that's a problem. Kakashi can be too analytical, overly so, and sometimes sees things that aren't there. This can be because he's incredibly skeptical of so many things and so unwilling to trust in things that don't seem completely rational or logical (sometimes not all things are -- like emotions, which he never seems capable of accepting).
