I just broke the shackles of Bally slavery and joined LA Fitness. It's not a bad place, but I don't know if they have any local locations outside of Queens/LA yet.

i live in the heights.. so no there is nothing around here that is not ghetto. i thought of joining ballys actually, but its actually easier for me to go to the bronx then to ballys.. go figure.

Mad late reply - I apologize.

The contract aspect of Ballys killed me. When I first signed up it was because I needed to rehab my knee. I told the person I signed with that I'd only be the in area for three months and I wanted to be able to stop my membership after that time. He said it would be fine, and he LIED because I signed a contract saying I'd pay them for three years. After the contract was done I said "no more". I find LA Fitness's plan without the contract to be much better.

Their locations around here are SO not convenient and they've been expanding so quickly that they're lacking in quality.

I have a Planet Fitness membership from upstate and now down here its useless. I'm in SI and the one on the island is in a super remote place (though, I do admit, EVERYTHING here is super remote). Then there are two locations in the Bronx? I don't get it.
