QWERAK, the five stages of grief, and Superbowl Sunday

Feb 09, 2005 22:36

I've returned to hunt-and peck. That's because, for example, the U is where I expect to find the I. Which is where you would look for an F. But at least cheering for the Eagles got results.

Allow me to explain. I'll try to be succinct.

That last line explains it then. I was wondering if you were supposed to root for the eagles in the large intestine... :)

yay for Dvorak - I use that layout at work and home, but my keyboards are all still physically QWERTY boards. This confuses many people and makes my coworkers nuts.
But it is a lovely board. I had really bad pain in both hands for my first couple of weeks with it because I was using those muscles in unfamiliar patterns, but now it's smooth sailing. And faster typing everyday.

It's interesting that you do that. Today I've set the new keyboard to operate in "legacy QWERAK" mode, so the keys are all where I expect them, just not where they're labeled. The problem is I do sometimes need to glance down to orient myself, and now when I do that the keys are all wrong. I don't know whether to keep it set up this way (and have one obscure keyboard layout mislabeld as a different obscure keyboard layout) or to retrain myself on a new obscure layout even though Qwerty is supposedly a bit better than Dvorak for smooth surfaces. Your story adds some arguments for both sides. We'll see.

Did they just really like the Eagles (which means they are thugs) or did they know you lived in New England (therefore trying to specifically torture you, which means they might work for Homeland Security...okay, still thugs)?

Whoops, thanks for mentioning that. I forgot to say that the company is not far from Philidelphia. (They did also know I lived in New England from my .sig.) Fixed.
