It's a month now since I submitted the last of my three grad school applications. (Colorado and Arizona were due the 15th of January; Oregon the 1st of Feb.) Oregon got back to me today---I didn't get in---but Colorado and Arizona are still outstanding. Does this mean that they're taking longer to consider me? Good luck. I think my Colorado reply came pretty late (though not quite as late as Penn State, IIRC).

How's the new job going?

Colorado does seem to be late, as they're now the only one that hasn't gotten back to me. (Arizona also declined.) But I called up Colorado, and have been told--unofficially--that I'm in there. 1/3 wasn't what I was hoping for, but Colorado was my top pick. So knock wood.

The new job is interesting, but hectic. I'm officially a recruiter for the census bureau. (You'd think it would be easy to find people interested in making $14 per hour in a down economy, but no....) More and more, though, I seem to be doing analytical projects in the office, rather than working directly in the field. Of course, everything will change in a few weeks, as the real census work gets underway.
