Stop indoctrinating my kiddies!!

Sep 08, 2009 08:06

I switch on the local news in the early morning, and halfass pay attention while doing yoga on the floor in front of the teevee. It's the dorkiest of the local morning news programs, which is good, because light fluff that doesn't need close heeding is exactly what I'm after at Oh-Dark-Thirty. Yay, Little League! Yay, Missing Puppy Returned Safely ( Read more... )

"these People" are fucking idiots, to use a technical term so as to avoid confusion. I have a regular correspondence with a few of this sort of rightwingnut - said correspondence coming to a halt today because I have only so much time in my life, and I'm tired of making it available to both sides of their non-questions - and frankly, they are liars. They send me lies, try to pretend the crap they send me is mostly true when I point out the falsehoods, then try to pretend that, even if it is all or mostly lies, it's still important that I know both sides of the question - what was the question again? - yadda yadda.

Well, I'm tired of dealing with fools. I can accept that they are idiots, sadly, but I don't have to invite them in for coffee. I've got work to do, a garden to pay in, and lots & lots of books to read.

Now to get back to the heavy lifting. My Death Panel has lots of cases to review.

I feel like I've spent my whole life giving idiots the benefit of the doubt. It hasn't done any good. All it's done is wasted time, and maybe once in a while given me that little dopamine spike that comes from doing one's painful duty. Eh -- I have actual responsibilities, which are sometimes actually painful, for that!

It's always good to see (or "see") you, LR! :D

I keep thinking surely things have gotten flat idiotic enough for the backlash to begin. Not yet, apparently.

What's that old saying ... if there's no backlash, you just gotta go start the bloody thing your own badself? ;->

Sieg Heil.

Gotta say, someone who objects to the message that kids should stay in school, work hard, and take responsibility for themselves on the basis that this message is "indoctrinating" probably *ought* to feel threatened by the message itself...

Tired of being surrounded by morons.

Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intelligent life down here.

Sieg Heil.

AHA!! See, kiddies, Obama is so open about being a Nazi, that his indoctrinated followers begin their political missives with....

Nope, satire is too close to the truth to be funny these days. :/

I can't believe this is even a discussion. What the hell has happened to us?

Is it the media? Is it the need to pit Right and Left against each other that is fed on a daily basis by the headlines so that we might as well be two separate countries? Have we been in Iraq so long that we envy the Sunni/Shia faction vs. faction lifestyle?

I just have to say I am sometimes surprised how surrounded by morons I am. Then I am surprised that I am surprised. Every single time.

edited because I'm too disturbed to not typo

Oh, I get that too. The being surprised that you were surprised. That's the worst! :/

Maybe, I dunno though. Here's what KUSI has to say for itself:

"KUSI is the rarest of the rare, a true independent television station competing with nine network affiliates (including Spanish language stations and PBS). Its independence allows KUSI to be 100% local, able to break at any time for important news stories. Already more than seven and one half hours a day are dedicated to local news on weekdays, and four and one half hours a day on weekends. Plus, KUSI features live newsbreaks every hour between newscasts, so viewers are never more than thirty minutes away from the latest breaking news stories."

They usually stick pretty firmly to the local slant on everything. Being as San Diego is a bloody swathe of red in the blue sea of So-Cali, I think they were just reflecting the local slant.

Although, in a hopeful-to-me sign, apparently when the Grossmont/Spring Valley school board decided not to run the speech during school hours at all, but instead have a showing in the auditorium after school, open only to kids who were ( ... )
