I've been planning on buying an iMac for a while now, so yesterday my wife & I dropped in on the chaos-as-normal Apple Store to have a last talk with a salesbeing.  Turns out, if I buy one by this evening, I can get a free iPod Touch.  OK, free stuff is cool, but I'm wondering, is there any reason I should buy the iMac NOW to get the free toy?  ( Read more... )

 ... I will be celebrating the 31st anniversary of my Minerval Initiation.  That makes it just a little less than half my life spent in OTO.

 Niall Ferguson's The Ascent of Money.   I am also enjoying his War of the World, but not as much as Money.

 why I woke up and got out of bed at 4:44-ish this morning.  Seemed right, even though it was two hours earlier than usual.

 that I am now spending probably 5 times as much desk time doing something to correct a problem I created last week when I didn't have enough time to do something right because I screwed up my priorities so badly.  

 Anybody see a guy "with the blazing blue eyes, Motorola radios and a flashlight" wandering about the site, he's a friend doing security.

On this, my first graze-by of LJ in several weeks, I find that I missed several "issues" that might inordinately have received my limited attention.  Looking out my window, I see a deepening dusk, moving headlights, and sounds of traffic.  Obviously, I missed nothing of consequence.  I rejoice in my good fortune ( Read more... )
