Longing.

I was driving home from my Saturday hike at Three Creeks and there were low, gray clouds off in the distance near the horizon. They had peaks and crests and valleys.

Oh, how I wish that they were mountains. Ohio is too flat in more ways than one.

I do so miss the mountains. The only reason I was able to trade off was my tremendous love for water.

I couldn't never live in the landlocked, flat mid-west. Ever.

I will give Ohio some credit. There are spots in the Southeastern part of the state (hills) that are pretty impressive in terms of beauty. The Berkshires can't be all that far from you ... and you have the ocean. Lucky.

Funny--there have been more than a few times when I have tricked myself into thinking that clouds on the horizon in Ohio were actually mountains ...
