So I’m at one of the final 15 tables in a Limit Hold ‘Em tourney on Pokerstars.net. I’m right in the middle of the board, around 30k chips with about 200 players left from 6500 entries. I raise on K 6 clubs suited pre-flop. When we hit the river and the hands turn up, I win with two pair, 6’s and 9’s. And the tirade begins.

This post represents a complete misunderstanding of poker theory. Statistics are not bullshit. Statistics are the complete base for all that you should be doing. There are hands that you should always fold. Always. Because in most situations, you are not going to get shit on the flop enough times to make it worth it. Even when you do win some big hand it will never match the amount of times you limped in and did not get anything.
Paddy, look into a copy of Small Stakes Hold Em by David Sklanksy. You will never play the same again.

Dan is right, I was actually thinking about limit poker, so that doesn't apply here, but betting with bottom half of all hands on a full table is just stupid.
There's definitely skill beyond simple math that was not my argument. My argument is that to win consistently you have to know odds in every single situation or you will make poor decisions.
