I would be wary of the ISM. You can get lucky and get a good instructor or you can get unlucky and get a bad instructor. I'm not even sure if you are guaranteed to get the same instructor.
I would recommend looking for smaller, one instructor schools. There was an excellent one called Churchtown School of Motoring (I think) but last I heard he has retired.
I used a guy called Carl (087 225 9378). Best teacher EVER. He used to work with a school but now does it on his own. He's honest to god, amazing. I've recommended him to loads of people and they've all passed first time as well.
Rathfarnham Garda Station: When you're heading towards town, take a left at the junction of the yellow house and the church, then go past those shops and take the first left at the traffic lights. It's there on the left side of the road.
I'm guessing for pixies, towards town would be taking a right at The Tuning Fork and coming out between The Yellow House and church. That's the way I always did it anyway.
In all fairness, you can't really take a right at the Tuning Fork, by virtue of the fact that it's Y-shaped. If you take a right, you're going AWAY from town. Sheesh. :)

Seriously -- where in west Cork? Or west part of Cork city (I don't know how they break things down out there)?
