I know. I'm still struggling to comprehend how cheap a person has to be to do that.

I've asked the estate agent to send me all the photos they have on file. Maybe one of them will have the bath or the internal doors on it. We didn't expect this so didn't go and take our own photos.

I've never known anyone be that stingy!

Trouble is you probably can't do anythinng about it, they don't have to leave anything behind unless its on the inventory. You need to make sure the list is really specific, not that thats much use to you now :/

I know. I still can't believe it.

I'm sure there will be nothing we can do about it. I suspect that even if we do get photos proving the changes, the solicitor will charge too much to pursue it.

We'll see though.

Nothing to stop you filing with the small-clams court, costs you about £80 if you want to mount your own case…. But if the court appearance subpoena doesn’t shake him to make a settlement you can then either drop the case or get a solicitor to make your case for you.

The photos are the best, but witnesses (the estate agent and the other people that looked around could be enough to make a CCJ stick in your favour)

It is however a good lesson to the rest of us…. Always to take a camera when viewing.

The estate agent might be a better bet, since the house they showed you around was not the one you got… especially if they are a big chain and can’t afford the poor publicity

Sorry it happened to you :(

Caveat Emptor just isn't enough at times. deejake June 15 2005, 16:13:57 UTC
Incredulous. You hear about this kind of thing happening but never really believe it.

Taking bulbs is a but stingy in my book but doing what he did is just plane wrong. I despair of people some times.

Best of luck trying to get some recompense but it sounds doubtful to me.
