i have decided that i am going to join the labour party.  the main reason being that when the next leadership election comes around i can vote for this guy.

Gordon Brown won't be recognisably better than Blair. In fact he will probably have to make some explicitly right wing gestures soon after ascending in order to counteract his mildly "left" reputation in the eyes of the right wing press, "Middle England", etc. etc

Good on you for doing something. There are people who crap on and on about how terrible things are - when they haven't even been arsed to vote in the first place - and then sit back and do absolutely nothing about it.
