The concept at work is very simple - "tire the mind out". Anything will work - some stupid repetitive physical work, or getting bored out of your mind, or listening to somebody giving you a lengthy boring lecture on this or that. And at the end of it, just when you realize you can't take it anymore - a pot of gold, a blissful state, caused by the mind ceasing its endless churn (at least for a while).

The lenghty boring lectures could never bring me to this kind of state. I normally just fall asleep if I am not interested enough. :}

I used to sing songs in this state, and dream about different crap the teenagers dream. Really couldn't have phones in water.

I believe during this state Kthulhu is eating your brain or something, that's why i prefer sprint now days. lol.

I also believe there could be some shift in aerobic balance during this kind of state (less oxygen is consumed by some parts of the brain, slowed down by bigger intake needed for the body itself). So bacisally you're just getting half way into a coma state :) May be, sort of, looks like it.
