What? Did you really expect me not to have another few cliff-hangers for you just because Don's now been rescued? If so, you don't know me very well.

*evil grin*

The delay in posting this chapter is due to a number of reasons and I'm sorry for it. You'll be happy to know, though, that I wrote a ton on the plane ride back home and will be sending the next chapter off to my betas tonight.

Don't ask me where Banner's ultimate fate came from, I'm not entirely sure. Nor do I really want to inspect it too closely, to be honest. It seems like Frazer's still alive and kicking in my head. While it is true that I knew Banner's death wouldn't be pretty, the evisceration thing blindsided me a little. It just popped out while writing this chapter.

As with the last chapter, I'd like to thank aleo_70 once more for her help with proper police procedure. I took that and used a little (though I hope not too much) creative license for this chapter.

Finally, just a quick note for those of you who've seen Hangman: I totally pictured Don's scar as being ( ... )

Yep, more pain. Couldn't resist milking it for all it's worth.

*blushes*

Thanks!

There can never be enough pain and there can never be enough milking of it...

Lol, I sure Donny disagrees, quite vehemently.

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

I don't have much more to say. Am on tetherhooks. Somehow, even with Frazer dead and Keane a little incapacitated, I just *know* it's not going to be a tidy end. And poor Billy. He really does need a door to put his fist through, having to sit there and understand just what Don's been put through.

Gah. It's too tense!

Nope, tidy it won't be, though perhaps not in the way you're thinking. Don's just been through too much for it to be tidy and realistic.

Thanks for commenting!

Lol, well, better longer than shorter, I say. I doubt I can hate anything more than the short hair of season 3. It just made him look old.

Hmm, now there's something I hadn't thought of!

Hear that, loozy?

Ah, but can you guess what is coming?

Yays.

You updates. I loved this chapter. Nice to see Billy's protectiveness and his inner expository while he tried to make sense of the mess around him.

Poor Don. The guys deserves some sleep. Bless his heart, lol. I just go to goo over Don beig protected...especially by another strong character like Billy. And I thought it was a great call to have Don's accomplishments despite adversity noticed by the various police and rescue workers who showed up.

Great chappie.

Yeah, sorry again for the delay.

while he tried to make sense of the mess around him

Don't think that will ever really work. Not for him and any other sane individual.

Don doesn't get protected enough, which is his fault in large parts, but I doubt he was even as a kid. But even he deserves, and needs, it sometimes.

Well, Don did do a lot and get far, unfortunately it simply wasn't far enough to get free on his own. The odds were stacked too much against him. But he gave Billy the room he needed to swoop in and save him. Just imagine the potential hostage situation if he'd still been tied up and Billy came in when Frazer or Keane was near Don.

Huh, I guess it all depends on what you're used to.

Thanks.
