RECAP: The All-American Rejects @ Istora Senayan, August 17th 2009

Aug 19, 2009 01:20

Let me begin by telling you why this show was of special significance both to us Indonesians and (as I would later find out) to the Rejects themselves. The bombings of July 17th is still fresh in all our memories, and to stage a major musical event in the heart of Jakarta on this day of all days, our Independence Day, can only a be daunting thing.

When the world comes down... )

This is the kind of review I love reading. They give so much of themselves on stage it's unbelievable until you see it for yourself and leave you craving for more, more and more. I'm glad he gave your country such respect, the Rejects are awesome like that.
Thanks for crosspoting this to aared

As for the reqs, castratingcows write the best fics I know of the Rejects ;D Also, I'm pimping my community aared because it's the most updated on LJ with the latest news, icons, picspams and such. /shameless
I posted over there the documentary featured in their DVD Too Bad For Hell and I'll post later tonight the one in Tournado ;D

Awesome. I was going to write a post about this myself, but you've done it, beautifully. You've said what I need to say. Thanks for writing.

Just some addition, Phoenix was the first foreign act to perform in Jakarta after the bombings, so credits should go to them for not being afraid and for giving us a great night to remember.

I give credit to all of the acts who came here after the bombs, Phoenix and the JavaRockingLand bands included. Tyson did get some of his facts wrong--like saying our independence was in 1947 when it was in fact 1945==but I think the gist of it was that his was the first headlining American band that came here after the bombs to peform a standalone show.

I wish I'd gone to Phoenix too, but I'd be broke as shit if I had. :p
