But instead I'm mourning the death of our dog, Molly, who was the very last of the Lucas Clumbers. Such a sweet dog, and even though I told myself over and over on the way home from work today that she wouldn't be there to greet me, I still found myself looking around for her. The floor seems empty here and my heart is broken.

I'm sure this would have to rank as one of the saddest nights of my life. I have faced the fact that Molly's most recent illness is not one from which she is going to recover.
