This post has two purposes. First! I know there are other vampires/vampire-hunters/what have in camp. I am not familiar with all those canons! So what I need from you is if you're capable of sensing vampires and generally how vampires work in your canon. Yes, this is partly for my own information, but also so we can figure out how Sanctuary- ( Read more... )

This should be interesting. Okita is rasetsu, which are like fake fail vampires. They're actually fake oni, which exist in their canon as a separate species but can have cute little babies with humans, and what have you. The Shogunate's government hired an oni doctor who used ~DUTCH MEDICINE~ to create Ochimizu, which is an elixir that gives you...this. Enhanced strength, speed and healing, but at the cost of bloodlust/thirst + drastically shortened life span ending in turning to ash.

He wouldn't ping as a vampire, but... vampire-like? As for if he'd sense vampires himself, canon is a little vague on that. Sometimes they seem to ping, particularly if they're really using their power, and other times less so. So I go with yeah, he can pick up on it, but it's not an always or immediate thing. If he pays attention or they actually interact for any period of time, then he'd notice something.

TL;DR

Well. As far as I can tell, Tesla hasn't got any way to sense fellow vampires. If he finds out about Okita, he'll probably peg him as some kind of new abnormal. :|b

WE'RE ALMOST THE SAME TYPE OF VAMPIRES \o/

In Noblesse, vampires (except not really vampires) were historically gods and rulers. As humans gained strength they sort of withdrew from the public eye.

Vampires can "give" their power to humans, canon hasn't told us how it works, but it's not traditional turning. Then as turned humans turned more humans things got worse and drinking blood started to happen until they ended up with "modern" vampires.

Rai is implied to be the ORIGIN of all vampires and he has the ability to order people around. He'd be able to tell Tesla is one, and Tesla would probably be able to tell back. Do you wanna do this? We can totally do this.

This sounds awesome to me! Especially because it leads to interesting ~things~ with Tesla realizing he's not the only one of his kind.

Sadly, Sanctuary is unlikely to tell us if Tesla's kind of vampire can turn people. Tesla does do some science things in a few episodes, but I doubt that is/was ever a particularly classic method.

Noblesse has humans who got vampire genetic material and experimented on people to give them special abilities. ACTUAL vampires ('nobles') disapprove of it.

And I don't know Sanctuary at all, but Noblesse has FRANKENSTEIN /o/ (the scientist, not the monster) who apparently did experiments much like Tesla did. So Rai totally knows the crazy scientist type.

I'm not really sure I'd call Tesla your average mad scientist but he's... focused, I guess you could say. He wants to bring Sanguine vampiris back to the world so they (read: he) can rule as is his right.

Also, he... might count as a human who got vampire genes. He does have vampire ancestry, but until he injected himself with the Source Blood he was just sort of an average guy.

I PLAY SHERLOCK HOLMES and uh Stefan's a vampire.

BBC Sherlock, right?

Anyway, the way Sanctuary canon goes Watson is Holmes. Or rather, James Watson was the basis for Doyle's detective and asked to not be named as the main character because... uh, I guess he didn't want the publicity? Canon's not too clear on it.

That's the one!

... that's special.

'Special' would be a good way to describe Sanctuary in general. The good kind of special, but still. Also (almost) everyone is ridiculously old, through one method or another. Watson's involves a self-made machine to keep him young.

Acheron's canon is uh. OKAY, let's see if I can explain this. Vampires are basically an advanced human-type race created by the Greek god Apollo. He cursed in a ill-thought out fit of pique. Basically, they're called Apollites, and they can't go out in the sun anymore, need blood to sustain themselves, all that fun stuff. Also, they'll die on their 27th birthday. BUT THEY FOUND A LOOPHOLE! Drink human blood and they'll live forever. Or until someone stabs them in the heart or cuts off their head, whichever. Once they drink blood, they call themselves Daimons... but they're still called vampires by a lot of people ( ... )

I'm pretty sure Tesla doesn't drink from humans anymore (unless he's broken his promise to Helen, but let's not get into that). Canon doesn't tell if/when/how often he needs to drink blood either although there's some off-hand line about 'still taking his meds'. So there's that.

But other than that, standard Sanctuary rules apply, namely that he's a member of the species Sanguine vampiris, doesn't seem to age, and is generally stronger/faster/harder to kill. He also doesn't have any of the traditional vampiric weaknesses.

Thought I should pop in here and say that while Faust is NOT a vampire hunter, he is an extensively modified human with a supreme eye for other peoples physicalities- he will be able to tell after observing Tesla that his body is stronger than a 'normal' human being, and far more durable. He won't know he's a vampire per se, but he'll know he's superhuman.

Also, vampires in Guilty Gear verse are... strange. The one that we see is called "Slayer"- he is SUPREMELY powerful, nearly invincible, immune against sunlight, religious symbols and garlic, capable of teleportation, and he has a hot immortal wife whose blood he constantly drains to the point where shes just a withered mummy, only to have her resurrect completely healthy mere moments afterwards. Faust actually names Slayer as a "Nightstalker", so he knows enough about the supernatural to recognize a vampire when he sees one who is reasonably similar to Slayer in bodystructure.

OH man forgot to wrap it up- BASICALLY Guilty Gear is a world which has all kinds of supernatural oddities in it, and from what we've seen there isn't so much a 'race' of being called vampires, as there are a gathering of beings of varied supernatural abilities that stick together solely because they're not human. It's implied in game that Slayer, who has lived for hundreds of years, is the guy who inspired the novel 'Dracula', and so humanity just THINKS there is something called 'vampires', when it's really just him who does the whole 'drink blood and dress like an impeccably good-looking magnificent bastard thing'. SO YEAH.

Basically Faust knows that there are beings who mostly walk around at night and feed on humanity and are supernaturally strong, but there is so much variety inbetween them all that calling them all 'vampires' would be oversimplifying matters. Hence, he just calls them 'Nightstalkers' and lets them correct him if they feel like it.

Sadly, canon tells us very little about the body structure of vampires. They are however, unbothered by garlic/holy water/sunlight/etc but they can't teleport (that ability crops in exactly one individual, and it's not Tesla). I'm assuming that apart from the durability/strength issues he's fairly human on the inside, so if that would ping as vampire feel free to pick up on it.

Also, I don't know if it's anything Faust would pick up on it, but Tesla also has retractable talons! They're a standard vampire trait, in his world.

Yeah, since that's part of Teslas physical body, Faust would most likely know it- he just wouldn't comment on it because that would be rude :)
