Funny that you should mention no carb in connection with diabetes, since I just read the March issue of Good Food magazine, which had a feature on GI dieting to prevent diabetes. Maybe that's something looking into, since you mention breakfast cereals in your other comment? I know oats are supposed to be good in this respect...
This is a low GI/GL diet and they recommend to avoid all grains including wheat, oats, corn and potatoes etc. Oats are still considered high GI even though they are good for you in other areas.
I'm still here! [waves] Just busy so I've only been skimming my flist... [is a bad friend]
Good luck with the diet - I know those plans have been proven to work so I hope it works for you. I just love my carbs way too much to be able to cut them out, I'd crack after 3 days and someone would find me on the bakery shelves in Tesco, eating my way across them like some kind of carb-hunting manatee! ;o)
I've been coping quite well with the carb withdrawal as the diet allows over 70% dark chocolate (in moderation - whatever that means). A diet that allows my favourite chocolate is one I can stick with \o/. Of course, if it fails to shift the weight I'll be with you hoovering up the danish pastries in Waitrose (Tescos is so last year).
