Congratulations America.

The world (inc gay people & women's uteri) is a safer place without the warmongering, religious zealot, right-wing dingbats of the Republican Party in power.

Mitt moved away from the Tea Party'ers when he twigged they were losing him any chance of winning, but too late. The thought of a member of a cult, an asset stripper who condoned policies which would remove choice over their own bodies from women was scary. President Obama is on record as being in favour of gay rights and now he's a second-term Prez, let's hope he does more to help those who need it. He has nothing to lose.

Even without the Tea Party idiots, I didn't trust Romney. His own crazy Mormon religious views were scary enough. I hope the weird structure of American politics means Obama gets the freedom to do good things without being hampered.

Any fanatical religious views are scary as they take away logic! Romney was quite gracious in admitting defeat and called for an end to bi-partisan bickering but we'll see. Obama can't be elected Prez a third time under the rules, so he has more freedom now. We can only hope he uses it wisely.

And so say all of us. A USA version of 'mega Cameron' would have been a disaster imo.

It would have been like going back to the 18th century or something in terms of women's rights etc. Scary - glad that didn't happen. Religious views have no roll in politics.

More good news - Maine, Maryland and Washington state have approved same-sex marriage in local referendums. :)

I slept well for the first time in a long time last night. I am so glad the election is over and that the American people made the right choice.
