About nine years ago, my San Francisco native cousin, Laura, moved to Maine. She writes home and tells us stories about all the stores with puns in their names-- "Mainely" this, "Mainely" that, hair salons called "Curl Up and Dye".

She had her wedding in York, though, and I thought it was a lovely little town.

In my house in Green Bay, when I was five, I had a big picture of a chocolate moose hanging over my bed. I don't know why it disappeared in St. Louis.
