well in my childhood, a scarring exposure to peanut butter (which I still despise in any form other than peanut butter cookies) led to a ban of all nuts. So far, I've managed pecans, walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts, but I still have peanut butter on the gross list.
So does "go places and do things" include GO visit your friends scattered all over the country and DO exciting things on your visit?
So apparently I make generalizations. I had eaten dried cranberries a few times before and drank cranberry juice, but was too scared to attempt the fresh ones. However, I'd definitely never had cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving (my family had never had it any way OTHER than out of a can) until this year.
It might also be wise to point out that I tried cooking all of these foods for the first time this year, which is more accurate in a broad sense.
Oh, and I made mozzarella from scratch for pizza, courtesy of Anna's stepmom Donna. That should be on my list too.

Go places, and do things.
