Truth Be Known

I'm not fishing for compliments and I'm not trying to play "the victim", but some things have been pissing me off and/or getting on my last fucking nerve. First off, I'm tired of being underestimated. I'm tired of a lot of people making me feel useless because I don't have a degree. No one has to say anything, they can just elude to it. One of my " ( Read more... )

i've found and been told by everyone that has a degree that its whole purpose is really just to have a piece of paper that shows you've gone through a certain amount training and can do enough work to pass a college program. that's it. you don't really get smarter from it, just legal documentation that you don't necessarily bail. and i see a lot of people just barely getting their degree so sometimes it doesn't even mean that ( ... )

I wanted to add something to your list of reasons why people get degrees, V. The only way that I can work with autistic people the way I want to requires a degree; I have to have it. If I didn't, I'd be more than happy to bury my nose in a book and say to hell with the piece of paper, lol. It's a lot cheaper!

And I hope you know that I love you, period. Doesn't matter if you have a degree. Doesn't matter if you have an extra ear, or three toes. Doesn't matter if you just finished the fourth grade, or if you have six doctorates. I love you for you, babe. *hugs*

*hugs* I'm proud of you and you should be proud of you too. I'm glad you can accept that people choose different paths in their lives because they know what's right for them. College was something that I put on the backburner because I wanted to work. Oh, how I miss my blockbuster days :)

I know what you mean about the degree thing. I'm 27 and never went to college. I never had the time.... I had to do that thing.... you know.... called WORK to support myself just like you.

I was teased and spit on and shit in high school too.

people that have never had it hard will never know what its like to be like us. but they will never know what its like to become huge rockstars and get revenge on the world like we will either. ♥

Most of the time I find that places you're applying couldn't give a shit if you have a degree, but if you have experience. I was assistant manager every place I've worked and my boyfriend who just graduated has never had that experience because he was in college. I think it's unfortunate people go on and on about education when if they shut the fuck up for five seconds and listened to someone instead of talking all the time they would learn a lot more than they think.

Sorry I rambled...Jesus. But, I love your words. We will have our revenge goddamnit. ♥

apparently they place a lot of importance on the experience of sitting in a classroom and learning from a textbook as opposed to out in the real world. really not the best business decision in my opinion.

but doesnt every rockstar have a rags to riches story...? :)

it is sad and i think it's because they like "weeding out" who had money to go to college and who had to survive by working. the american way.

and yes, rags to riches seems to be the formula that always works ♥
