So do any of you handy people out there know how to power a well pump off the grid?  Is there some way to attach it to a car/truck battery?

Windmill? Hand pump?

Isn't there an agriculture extension office in town at the circle near the coffee shop?

I don't know but I will check... I'm sure there is one in town somewhere :) Thanks for the idea! I feel like I'm too close to the problem to think straight.

I wish I wasn't so vague as "in town, at the circle, near the coffee shop". In Rochester, I'd ask at Cornell Co-operative Extension. But for the life of me, I can't remember what the place in C'ville was called!

Do problem :) You have only been around here once(twice?) and to remember that much shows how sharp your mind is! I will be getting in contact with one of the agricultural help places tomorrow and hope they have a good cheap answer to my problem :)

Well I got an answer back from a www.backwoodshome.com, (after examining thier site I figured they would be 'in the know'). Basicaly using a vehicle battery will not have enough power. They suggested getting a generator and setting up a plug on the pump.
