I just read the most amazing thing. I read on the tour-report of the Mayapura-parikrama that a Western devotee called Pradyumna Misra Prabhu received sannyasa and is now called Bhaktivedanta Vaishnava Maharaja

I'm so happy for your friend. I hope it won't be too much for him to be in a renounced order of life. But it seems not if you say he has no false ego..
One little thing tho. Dearest Vasu, I think you're mistaken about so many Vaishnavas in our line.. it seems that you don't consider any of Prabhupada's disciples as Vaishnavas. Well.. I don't want to offend you by declaring this statement Vaishnava aparadha, but I just humbly request you to do some hearing. You can start with, say, Radhanath Swami Maharaja, Indradyumna Swami Maharaja, Sacinanadana Swami Maharaja, etc.
Please don't take offense. It's just that one thing is to whimsically think that there are practically no Vaishnavas in the West, but another thing is to take the qualifications of a Vaishnava and try to see if there are actually devotees who are adorned by these qualities...
i don't think Vasu has forgot this. We are respecful of Srila Prabhupada as our Guru too, and his disciples are highly respected in the Gaudiya Math. Most of us came from SP too. Much love
I'm sorry if I upset you with my post, I really didn't mean to. When I said if there would be 1 Western person a real Vaishnava, I meant of the persons that I personally know (on a personal level). I am very fond of Srila Indradyumna Swami (I always read his stories and had the fortune to meet him once) and I have no doubts about Srila Radhanatha Maharaja at all (though the only time I saw him I wasn't touched by his lecture, but that doesn't mean anything). I don't doubt they are Vaishnavas and I'm also sure Iskcon is full of Vaishnavas. If I look at the people in Radhadesh and than I look at myself, I see how fallen I am and how devoted they are. I truly respect them and have a high opinion of them.
I do believe there is a difference in level between my Guru and the sannyasi's in iskcon, but that is why I chose for him and the same story will count for you and your Guru. This doesn't mean we can't respect Guru's or Vaishnava's from other branches.
I hope you won't take offence and forgive me if I did offend you.
Oh i'm so happy too. 1st because it'll be easier for me to remember His name and because it gives me hope. So many devotees are homophobic and Srila Gurudeva always showed us by example that a soul is a soul !!
I am so happy too. He did tell me he didn't wanna become a sannyasi, because he wanted to stay humble and sannyasi might make it more difficult for people to approach him in a natural way, since he is such a people-person. But since he is preaching so much, I think Srila Gurudeva wanted to give him an extra blessing and by the sannyasi initiation also extra strength and power.
Yes Srila Gurudeva is definetely giving a strong message here, we are not the body...straight or gay.
