Medusa isn't dressed in her usual black dress and lab coat. She's wearing what she considers to be her real clothing, walking purposefully through the forest. She isn't exactly concerned about passerby seeing her, but she also isn't looking to

A certain young god feels that presence the instant the witch releases her Soul Protect. Medusa's soul is unmistakable, and Kid really should go and find Liz and Patti and end this right now, but he's on the opposite side of Vatheon from his weapons, and so he heads straight for the witch, blazing through the sky on his skateboard.

It takes seconds to get to the clearing, and he doesn't stop when he gets there, just kicks off of Beelzebub and sends the skateboard heading straight for the witch's head.

"Medusa!"

Medusa looks up at the sound of her name and moves to the side just in time, instantly moving to a defensive position as she looks for her attacker.

"Well, if it isn't the junior Reaper himself."

He hits the ground running, full out attack mode. This is not the time for witty banter. As soon as he's in range he steps slightly to the side and aims an inhumanly strong kick at the witch's ribcage.

[screwperseus]

She takes the hit with a cry but straightens immediately, a flurry of arrows clouding around her. She isn't attacking. Not just yet, anyway.

"I'd consider whether or not this is a peace you want to disturb, especially considering I haven't done anything."

"Do not try to bargain with me, witch."

He's waiting, half-crouched, alert to any possible opening in Medusa's defence. At the first sign of weakness, the reaper will strike.

[screwperseus]

"I suppose that is Lord Death's way, strike first and ask questions later. The apple never falls far, does it?"

With the timeline the witch is from, there's no possible way she can know about Kid's doubts and worry on that particular subject. For a split second, he thinks about headlines in a newspaper and his Honorable Father with his back turned offering startlingly empty excuses. That split second is enough to make him speak.

"You have been given enough chances, witch. I was even willing to ignore your presence her in Vatheon, so long as you harmed no one and took no hostile actions." He shouldn't feel the need to explain himself to Medusa.

"However, you released your Soul Protect in a deliberate attempt to provoke the Shibusen agents here. You refused to stay quiet and you rejected any sort of peace."

Maybe he just wants an excuse to fight her. Maybe he wants to avenge Crona, to punish Medusa's multiple betrayals. Maybe he's just sick of standing with his hands tied, unable to attack his enemies or understand his allies.

[screwperseus]

She senses the doubt within Kid and smirks.

"Don't presume to think you understand my actions. I simply see no need to hide any longer, not here.

Stein has obviously kept you well informed, and I have no doubt he's policing me more heavily than I realize. He's already been here to ensure I'm behaving, in fact."

[hatetodismiss]

"For some reason, you seem to think that Shibusen would be willing to give you a second, no, third chance."

Kid will not let her fool them again. He's sure she's lying about Stein, but even if she isn't, Stein doesn't know what the witch has done, is from too early in their timeline to understand.

"So you're going to punish me for something I haven't done." She chuckles briefly. "But of course, I should have expected that. Very well, attack if you must. It should be an interesting fight, as you don't have your weapons and I'm not planning on holding back."

"What an exciting experiment you'll make."

Kid is unphased. He has something (three "somethings") that Medusa doesn't know about. Those are going to come into play later, when the witch thinks she's won.

"Unclean witch, prepare to face judgement."

And he rushes forward.

YOU PUT THAT HAIR AWAY.

[screwperseus]

Medusa throws up a flurry of arrows around her self with a cry of Vector Storm, at the same time sending one Light Serpent directly for Kid.

HECK NO

He's not holding back right now, not keeping his speed and strength to near-human levels. It's rare that he goes thus far for an opponent (the fight against Mosquito, his last spar with Black☆Star before Baba Yaga's Castle), and it will wear him down far more quickly than holding back would. Still, the serpent is going to need to be faster than sight to catch him, and he aims strikes at the arrows guarding the witch, trying to break through.

GET IT OUTTA HERE. FFFFF.

She pushes herself away from him on her tail snake. She's never fought a reaper before, and keeping her distance seems prudent for the time being. She sends a flurry of arrows directly for him.

He keeps aiming blows at the witch's side, trying to keep her on guard. He's going to try to keep her focused enough on blocking his attacks that she'll inadvertently make an opening on her other side.
