"Gang fashen shenme shiqing?" The minder is sitting up, a hand on her head. "How did you-- You are not legitimate government inspectors!" 'Cause the really important question here.
THis is buckets of fun. Though I'd prefer to have more Dean (what can I say, he's pretty) I really love how you're giving all the characters ample room to showcase their own idiosyncracies, like Simon checking on the minder not only because that's the doctorly thing to do, but also because he needs to distract himself.
Well, considering that the story started out as just John/Zoe, all the time, I think it's kind of funny how it's expanded to take in all the characters! (And you did see the previous part, which is all Dean, right?)
Yes, yes. But you must understand, as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as too much Dean. *grin*
But I must say, that I really do dig John in this 'verse. I dunno, there's something about him...like the way he's written in the regular SPN series, it almost translates perfectly to the Firefly/Serenity scenario. In fact, you mesh all the SPN characters very well into this 'verse (and vice versa with the Firefly crew and their reactions not only to the Winchesters, but also to the concept of those things that go bump in the night).
Like, you've kept all the really key parts to their identities, then predicted, in a very authentic way, what changes may or may not have occurred in the larger Winchester family narrative. All in all, it's fun AND believable.
"Dean is pretty" is one of those statements I'm happy to agree with. You can never have too much of that.
I'm really glad that you like this John. He's a difficult character (I mean, I do understand why not everyone loves him), but I'm fond of him -- and yes, he translates so well to the FF 'verse. It was musesfool's suggestion, and once I started to think about it he just... fit. It's a little harder to work Sam and Dean into the universe -- I mean, I've had to do more thinking about their pasts, and getting how they speak right is sometimes hard, but it's a surprisingly good fit for both sets of characters. Which is a little weird, when you thinkabout it. I think the western elements in Firefly really help here.

And yes. Demons. And Blue Sun. There was something off about those hands-of-blue guys, didn't you think? Although right now everything I'm writing seems to have tentacles.
Thank you! It's fun to write this stuff. (Actually, you are my model for posting like this -- that long, actiony SG-1 story you wrote, and sadly I can't remember the title to save my soul, and posted in pieces on lj -- anyway, this is obviously a good deal shorter and less serious a piece of writing than that was, but you did provide the model.)
oh, helllllooooooo. I just found this, and, oh, your John. Actually, your everyone, but John especially. I think he fits so well with the crew of Serenity because he's just like them. The things they fight wear different faces, but what John says, several parts back: he's fought for decades, he doesn't know how to live without that war...that's just John. I'd babble on about the Serenity crew, too, because they're just spot on as well, but there's good FF fic out there, and not so much good John, so I'll focus my flailing there. Very much looking forward to more!
I'm so pleased that you like this, and especially that you like this John. He's a little less broken, here, I think, but yes, he's such a perfect fit for the Serenity crew. Like Zoe says at the end of the movie -- he's tore up, but he'll keep flying -- if only because he doesn't know any better.
I understand why people don't necessarily find John sympathetic -- he's not an easy person -- but I really like him. And yes, there's just not enough good fic about him.

And yes, Sam should really have known better than to even try breaking the glass. Too much time with Dean, as you say!
