MONSOON!!!
One of the jokes about living in Arizona is the '5 inch rainfall' as in 5 inches between the raindrops. Well, no kidding about rainfall today. I think we got more rain this afternoon than we've gotten total for the year (except at the airport, where they measure the official rainfall, and it apparently barely rains). One down, four to go....
Well, I survived my first week of the summer session of Intro Bio - three evening labs a week (4:40 - 7:30). I think I will wind up with 12-13 students - most want the earlier afternoon sessions which is fine. I have one or two other that may drop the class (one I think will run into problems with grades), but I like teaching smaller groups. ( Read more... ) -

This and that
Yesterday was a day of this and that. I have to TA for five weeks after the 4th of July and found out I needed to get certified in animal handling since one of the labs is a frog dissection. I'm not too thrilled about the dissections - I haven't had to dissect anything since high school, many years ago and while I understand that this is a good ( Read more... ) -
Monday morning money joys
Oh, the joys of Monday. Started off with a few phone calls - first to my mortgage company because my monthly payment didn't appear to go through. I have automatic bill pay and usually arrange to pay the last possible day possible (I really hate my mortgage company) and my loan appeared not to have been credited. I'm rarely excited when a check cashes, except in this case when the IRS is involved. Fingers crossed, I should be done with them until next year. -
DONE!! (and an end to the IRS saga?)
My renovation project is done! Well, essentially. I still need to add scribe molding to a couple of the edges (which means I need to track down some that doesn't need to be stained) and there's plenty of cleaning (I can't believe how dusty things got), but the kitchen is done. Almost done, plus some good karma
My kitchen is almost done! The tile place called late yesterday and asked if they could send a crew to fix things today instead of Friday. Fine with me. So the grout got fixed and they replaced the defective tile. So I have a big blue 'X' on one tile I can't walk on until tomorrow morning when the grout has dried and settled.
