Reasons for Veganism

I'm assuming that at least some of the vegans in this community prefer that their friends and/or significant others practice veganism.

If you are a vegan for moral reasons (even if that's only one of your reasons), would it matter at all to you if a new person in your life was vegan, but not for any moral reasons whatsoever? If you were attracted

It depends on their reasons and if that reason has a high chance of resulting in giving up being vegan in the future.

I disagree with many of the nutritional and environmental arguments for veganism, and would attempt to argue someone out of one of those. As for moral arguments, I would leave a person alone over that, because while I don't personally agree that it's a better moral choice to be vegan, I can sympathize with such a moral stance. I'm not vegan, but I have a lot of vegan acquaintances and a few friends. I worry more that by their morals, I'm the immoral one, so whatever vegans don't let me know that they abhor my meat-eating ways, we manage to stay friends. At least I don't think moral vegans are immoral. The ones who do it to stay skinny or as another way to be eating disordered, I really dislike and would avoid. I can't abide being around people who obsess about their appearances and destroy their health in the pursuit of vanity. Sometimes the moral stance is a kind of vanity: people who aren't even especially devoted to nonviolence, who can't eat something that used to be cute or don't want to be seen as someone who would. To me, it really doesn't matter what the reason is. I started veganism because I was always afraid of germs, and what has more germs than dead carcasses? But after becoming vegan, I did more research and now have moral reasons to back-up my transition. I don't think people need a moral reason to go vegan--all that matters is that they have made the transition :3
