rhealyn was nice enough to share with me some of the new Skinny Puppy album. It's good. Really good. Some of the beats really sound like Aphex Twin, which kicks ass, but it's distinctly flavored of Kevin (Nivek Ogre/ohGr and cEvin Key, the two Skinny Puppy guys who haven't died of heroin ( Read more... )

Did you snarl as you tore into that wheatloaf? Be honest!

"It makes me want to live in some apartment and hang out in trendy coffeshops and be that cool older guy who's all into industrial and post-punk and has done all kinds of drugs and is funny and knows all about life, like the person I wanted to hang out with in earlier highschool (though I never actually met such a person). And when I say "older guy" I don't mean dating girls. i just mean so I could have friends."Okay, so I'm female, and I'm not sure how funny I am or how cool, but the whole hanging out in coffeeshops and etc. is vastly overrated. Yeah, there's something to be said for wisdom gained through experience, but there's a lot of bad that goes with it. Misplaced trust in people who never deserved it for a start. Realizing you were only "friends" with some people because of the drugs and/or scene you supposedly were a part of. It's funny how when all that is stripped away, you find yourself still friends with the people you least expected to be friends with after all ( ... )

Yeah, I know you're right. And I don't usually like people who hang out in coffeeshops. And I fucking hate it when people do drugs just to be able to say they've done drugs. That's what music does to me, though. It makes me want to live these stupid fantasy subcultures that I'm too smart and cool for, but have this dumb, romanticized image of.

I'd still like some friends though.

I don't know much of that stuff except from your journal and my rivethead friend Dennis, but it's probably worth at least a lesson, heh. Though I can never keep Velvet Acid Christ and Wagon Christ straight, especially since you've talked about both of them.

As far as industrial goes, for me, it's pretty much Skinny Puppy, and some random stuff by Bi God 20, KMFDM, the odd Revolting Cocks song, etc. I like this stuff a lot but it's not really my favorite kind of music. As in it has to be specifically well-written and well-done songs to catch my interest, it can't just rely on a certain sound the way some kinds of music can.

Good, because I was about to email you and atone for not having emailed you enough, because I kind of thought you were pissed at me. I'm not sure why. Probably because you're you. :D (just kidding, it's actually because you're female)
