Not Crazy...umm, ok

So I met my psychiatrist for the first time today...looking back, my whole preconceived notion of how the appointment should have been was comletely wrong. First of all, walking in there, he didn't know anything about my past pschiatric history, or medical history, for that matter ( Read more... )

Perhaps, if you go back to that guy, you could take him your medical records? It sounds like he might be an anti-psychiatrist of sorts (he's against medication at all). From what I've read in my Mental Illness class, usually the best bet is a balance of medicine and therapy ( ... )

I have come to the conclusion that people who are depressed want to be depressed and those who are unhappy with thier lives want to be unhappy. Sorry, but I dont believe in this mumbo jumbo thearay shit. I think it is a waste of time and to those people out there who think they have problems, it is all in your head!!!! LOL.

I agree, there are people who don't necessarily want to be miserable but have pretty much given up. You kinda of have to make a conscious choice to search/quest for happiness, whatever that may be for you. And drugs do help for some people, this includes Alcohol, Marijuana, Caffeine, for some sugar, as well as prescribed medications for mood-stabilization, or those preventative of psychosis.

Therapy, is partially over rated...if you could have a friend (no charge) who was objective, completely devoted to you, and had considerable past experience with a wide variety of other peoples problems, that would be much preferred.

Shit happens, and at least going to therapy and taking medication is doing something about it in my opinion...IT JUST SHOULDN'T BE TAKEN TOO LIGHTLY is all I'm saying. Drugs and diagnosis shouldn't just be thrown out left and right.

I fell like I'm ranting again so I'm gonna stop.

Yeah. Nothing is white and black. I totally agree with you there, Greg. I also agree with Nick. I've always enjoyed being around you for YOU. You have passion and courage to express your feelings. To me, there is nothing more refreshing.

See, Greg. You're not 'crazy'. Just refreshing! Kind of like Gatorade on a hot summer's day;-)

Anyways, I <3 you. Later.

Have you ever felt like you were just living the wrong life, as if your soul/mindset wasn't matching up to your environment? Like, you should have been born later, or earlier, or to different parents in a different country - maybe even made a decision in your life that adversely effected the outcome of your future life?

Why and/or how do some people seemingly get through life so easily?

Do you think you can make a change in your outlook of life to, say , not be depressed? Isn't that just coping, which is to say actively managing your thoughts, but not creating different - and better - thoughts?
