Really? I did feel it was becoming a bit awkward here and there, but I was generally trying to make it sound good, heh :) You can almost see the Murakami influence all over it can't you?! I've been obsessed with his stories lately, I'm just starting to read my 4th one of his now - thank you so much (again) for recommending him to me :) And thanks for the compliment on my own writing too ^_^

I'm glad you like Murakami, although I haven't read any for a while, maybe I'll pick one up again soon. I'm addicted to Scarlett Thomas right now, though most of her books are hard to get, I'm actually planning to borrow one from the library (gasp!) "The End of Mr. Y" is her latest and it's very similar to Murakami in some ways. Recommended if you get a chance - you always seem to be someone who's "interested in things" and she's very interesting (and a bit magical too).

my friend is teaching english in japan. they really push the westerners over there bare in mind. we're hopefully staying with her next year for two weeks, I really hope, as it would be a dream come true.

Hong kong has good deals for english teachers according to my friend. maybe not main land china, but she really struggled for the first year as japan's seasons are extreme, very very hot summers, very very cold winters and they don't have central heating in rented places over in Japan. so english get a shock of their lives in the winter.

Hmmm, HK wasn't offered by this company, so might look into that on a search instead - I loved HK and would love to go back there for more time, I could imagine myself living there too! Thanks for that little snippet of info :)

Yeah, I've spoken to 2 people now who've lived in Japan (one still does) and they've said how hard it is to get by being non-Japanese and how you can pretty much only teach English as you won't be considered for anything else - shame really, that they don't want to integrate too much (not sure if that's the right way to say it but *I* know what I mean!) :(

Oh - poop, only just seen this message: don't yet have interet at home y'see so am only online on a 'whenever I get the chance' basis, which isn't often :( Sorry dude! Nah, this is pretty much all of it at the moment, not much to talk about really - just that I now have this week and next week to find another job or I'm screwed so am panicking a bit...have enough savings now to pay a month's rent if I need to though, so will at least have a roof over my head and a bit of food left in the cupboard/fridge, heh :) Will try to get the chance to catch up with your journal at some point today too! (and the Missus of course)

Firstly - sure I'll do you a copy of that CD, but be warned - some of it's really really difficult & I still can't get it! Also I suggest you look in the main library in town to see if you can get one, as that's where I got this one and also then you'd have 2 different ones so it might be better :)

Secondly - the way things are going at the moment I'll never move to Japan, but I'd see if I could afford a place with a spare room, just for you :)

I really want to stay doing office work, to keep 'in the loop' now that I've finally got into it at this grand old age! But there just doesn't seem to be anything available either in St A or London at the moment - although I know I'm being impatient as I've not long sent off most of the applications... I really didn't want to go back to retail as I hated it so much and was so happy to get away from it, but HMV is very appealing so thanks for suggesting it! I might try it if I don't get anywhere with the agencies by the start of next week (arrrgh cutting it fine now)

i didnt think about the libray- i always forget it exists! but im sure i have a card, i'll have to do that- good plan!

I didnt mean retail as a permanent thing- i totally get what you mean, i could never go back to it myself- i mean if it looks like it'll take a while to get an office job, you could do some retail temping part time of something, whilst you look. That way it keeps you employed, so you dont have a big 'DOLITE!' section on your CV (like i have a few too many times!) As you know, you can quit a job at any point if its a temping thing, which would be ideal :)

Hi Lou! Oooh I love that last line, very poetic! And so fitting for someone like me who has a history of running away from things like that - how well you know me, heh :)

Love your new profile pic, by the way - your hair looks lovely! x
