the lady who delivers the mail here at work is very nice. we exchange brief pleasantries when she delivers the mail. well, i've been here a while now, and she's been on this route a while and she's noticed that every week, on the same day, i get a letter from our main office. she surmised that it is my paycheck. now every week when she delivers it ( Read more... ) -
growing like a weed...

Writer's Block: Six-Word Story
it reminds me of a haiku. so rich in its simplicity. the story lies in what is not said and is left up to the reader to decide. we don't know if the story is a tragedy, a comedy, or something else. it could be viewed as entirely mundane, or it could evoke a well-spring of emotion.

ahh, young love...
i must be getting old. i just watched a young couple i know walking down the sidewalk together and it made me smile. she is only 18. they plan on getting married soon. i feel a tenderness for them that is bittersweet. i'd like to offer them some wisdom, but i doubt they would care to hear it. i hope that life treats them well and they stay together ( Read more... ) -

Last night I was up late doing research for a class project. Broadly, my topic has to do with Domestic Violence. There is, of course, an awful lot of stuff out there to look at regarding Domestic Violence. Even what's just online is pretty overwhelming. Swimming
We took the kiddo swimming on Saturday. Hanging Rock state park is a short drive from where we live and there is a lake there with a swimming area. Well, they call it a lake. More like an overgrown pond, really. The nice thing was that it was much better than I expected it to be. My experience swimming in lakes is that they are usually quite cold ( Read more... )
