Arcana and Persona
»So my character loses their canon powers?
Yes. Your character is no longer able to use magic/superpowers/the power of friendship. Skills that can be naturally learned can be kept. This means things like knowing martial arts would be allowed, but telepathy would disappear upon being brought into the game.
»What if my character needed those powers to survive?
Whatever was wrong with them to require the power's help, will be cured or fixed. If you feel it cannot be that simple, please contact a mod for further discussion.
»The Arcana I want is not available/ the Persona I want was taken.
Then we ask you choose another Arcana or Persona. The Persona go on a first come, first serve basis and will only be put back on the available list when the character using it drops. Arcana may be taken off the available list if we have too many characters apping in under it. Since the Arcana represent a person's journey through life, we are confident that another Arcana can be used as a suitable replacement.
»None of the available Personas fit my character. Can I create my own?
As long as the Persona is based off of a mythological, religious, or folklore figure and is not on the
list of Personas canonically taken, we will allow it. However we request that a description of
the Persona and its abilities, be sent to the mod team for review before submitting the Persona to
the taken list.
»Are the Persona's powers only usable during the Dark Hour?
No! We've changed the rule on this to allow Persona's to be summoned and used at all times. However when Persona's are sued during the day, they and there abilities are invisible to normal citizens of the world. Any Persona attack used on a natural citizen of this world will always miss or suddenly not work. Any damage they cause is 'fixed' by the next day and forgotten about by the citizens of Prospero. Persona's users will also tire at a rapid pace during the day if using those powers. During the Dark Hour, Personas and their abilities will work normally.
»How does a character summon a Persona?
Simply by thinking of summoning the Persona. There are no fancy tricks or spells. Just wanting the Persona to appear will allow it too.
Leveling Up And Dungeons
»How does my character's Persona level up?
Levels are kept track of by the players and depends on how much the character trains or does during the month. The minimum a character can gain, regardless of level or training, is one. The levels possible are as follows:
Levels 1-39: Gains up to seven levels a month, depending on the amount of training/fighting done. Gains three levels from participating in Boss/Moon Events.
Levels 40-69: Gains up to five levels a month, depending on the amount of training/fighting done. Gains two levels from participating in Boss/Moon Events.
Levels 70-100: Gains up to four levels a month, depending on the amount of training/fighting done. Gains one level from participating in Boss/Moon Events.
»When do I sign up for dungeons?
At the start of every month there will be an OOC post to let player sign up for dungeon crawling. During this time players can decided how many floors they will climb and how they did in shadow fights.
»What about bosses?
Every month there will be a boss event. The event will be based on the arcana of the boss shadow and will run anywhere from a few days to a week. There will not be a 'traditional' boss fight, unless a consensus can be reached amongst the players as to who will the ones to fight and defeat the enemy. Instead anyone can engage the enemies that show up on the full moon in a fight and the 'boss' will die when all the lesser enemies are defeated.
»Where can I find information on the Personas available or Arcana?
You can find the Persona List and Arcana information
here.
»Where can I sign up for a Persona?
You can sign your character up for a Persona
here. »How do dungeon crawls/ bosses work?
Dungeon crawls are player decided and run. If you want to do it, gather some other players and go forth.
Bosses and plot heavy fights are run by the staff. This means exploring can be handled in any way you like.
Setting and Communications
»Where does this game take place?
The game is set on a man made island off the eastern coast of the United States. The island, which consists of one large city, is known as Prospero. The island was created as a city-state over three decades ago by a former US Senator and once hosted a large business district. Most of the businesses disbanded or moved after an event just a few years after its establishment. The circumstances surrounding the creation of the island and the 'event' are shrouded in mystery as many of the records from that time have either gone missing or are not being released to the public. Within the last decade people started moving back to the area and turned it into what it is today. While the city is large (the island is around 100 square miles), the population remains rather small.
»Where does my character appear when first brought into this world?
The player gets to choose where the character appears as long as they appear somewhere on the island.
»Where do the characters live?
There is an old hotel that the characters are allowed to live at free of charge for as long as they wish. The hotel is owned by a unknown third party and is currently run by locals. Each character can get a few weeks worth of gift cards to various restaurants from the hotel staff. If questioned, the staff doesn't know anything about the owner or why the people are appearing. They only know they get paid to work here.
Once the characters have gotten enough money, they can move into homes, apartment buildings, and other places of residence around the city. School age characters can apply to live in dorms and will find their dorm fees mysteriously paid. However, characters living in dorms have a strict curfew and have to keep a C average in school. They cannot miss extended periods of school or keep pets. If they are found breaking rules, they may get kicked out!
»What about school or jobs?
There is an elementary, middle, and high school in the area along with a community college and a daycare center. Everything up to high school is free for characters to attend.
There will be jobs available for time to time. When openings become available there will be OCC announcements. However, characters can try to start their own businesses and hire others at their own discretion.
»How do the characters talk to each other?
Upon arriving characters will find a cell phone somewhere near them or on their person. This phone is automatically updated with the numbers each character in the game. Using this phone, characters can send photos, texts, videos, voice messages, and simply call anyone else. These means of communication can either be directed to the community as a whole or limited to a group of people. The group can be from 1 to 10 people.Characters can use computers to talk to other people (if they can find or afford one), such as using instant messenger services, emails, or forums. PA systems in schools or buildings, bulletin boards, and the postal service are also viable options.
»Wait, why aren't people freaking out at these freaks suddenly showing up?
Since the inhabitants of this world cannot experience the Dark Hour and the other worldly characters have human appearances, the people here just think that this is an influx of new comers moving to Prospero. If told otherwise, they natural citizens are likely to think the new comers are insane. However, some individuals have some idea that something's just not right. Some of these people can be contacted for help and they may sell characters needed supplies.
»Supplies? What do you mean?
Characters may want to take healing items, like medications, and weapons with them when they fight in the
dungeons. Some shops around Prospero will provide characters will these items.
»How does death work here?
Characters can die, but death is not permanent in Prospero. Characters who die will be 'out' of the game for a length of time ranging from a week to a month (decided on by the player) and then will come back. Deaths must be discussed with mods beforehand.
»What about canon updates?
Canon updates can be done! We ask that you first run your update by a mod. You may be asked to write up a small update on personality or history for us, so that we can determine how the character has changed from their last point in canon.
»Where can I find information about the inhabitants of the island and the important political figures?
Information of the important figures connected to the city can be found
here.
»What about the areas of Prospero?
Descriptions of the town districts and some of the important places can be found
here.
»Can our characters leave the island?
Yes! Characters can travel all over the world, which is the same as our current one in terms of geography what's available. While they appear in Prospero first, they don't have to stay. However, staying outside Prospero means that the character may miss out on several events.
