Yeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss. I've seen and read other things about food production but Food, Inc. nearly killed me. It might as well have been a Lifetime movie.
@5: Its also a case of the fox guarding the hen house. The people who staff the regulatory angencies are largely taken from industry. Its been described as a revolving door between the two.
Another fun food thing: While I was in India I saw an Australian documentary on human cases of Mad Cow Disease in the US. There were a number of them but the cattle industry got a law passed that said that US media wasn't allowed to talk about the cases because it might cause a "food panic." You know, people might not eat American beef if they new it was tainted, and well that's just bad for business.
