Wanted - unisex names

Dec 31, 2008 10:27

I am interested in getting as many examples as possible of names that are used for given names of both males and females. I am especially interested in names that have been used, at least for males, for at least 50 years.

Ashely and Hayden. I think the latter is pretty recently en vogue.

Do you mean unisex or ones that have "switched over"? Ashely used to be a male name, but is now primarily a female one.

I am interested in switch-overs as long as, like Ashley, they go from male to female. (I'm not sure there even are any female to male.)

Rowan. I just noticed that I have a new male first cousin once removed by this name, and I thought it had moved to being used mostly for women.

BTW: I'm curious to know why you're interested.

Mal has a classmate names Rohan. It always makes me giggle. Only last week did I learn that Rohan was male -- I had assumed female.

Gaming character names.

Clearly, Rohan needs to learn to ride.

Ha! Roleplaying is a noble reason to have an interest in names :).
