Shiny New Stuff

This weekend I got two nifty new things. A pull-up bar finally. The construction of it on Saturday afternoon by hubby somehow interacted synergistically with Malcolm refusing to take a nap and resulting bad behavior left us all pissed off and crabby. Hmm. I'm interested in this book. Maybe reading it would get me back in a lifting mood. I keep looking wistfully at my weight set, but it seems like there's anyway something distracting me from sitting down and coming up with a lifting plan.

When I was breaking my diet down by calorie source, I jacked my protein up to 30% based on my personal experience and something I'd read. I seem to need a lot of protein as a percent of intake to deal with blood sugar. I think I was eating close to the breakdown you're describing. It worked OK for me.

Certainly this book claimed that if you are restricting calories, your best bet for minimizing muscle loss is with a lot of protein.

Well, they are essentially half a pull-up, so they are helping strengthen me for whole pullups. It's a well established way to train up ones ability to do pull-ups, especially if one doesn't have access to an assisted pullup machine.
